Crooked Cops in Humble, TX
The
situation:
My son, Gordon Jr.,
was driving home from school today. He was stopped in the left turn lane at the
intersection of Wilson Road and Isaacs Road. He was waiting to turn left onto
Isaacs from Wilson. He saw a police car heading towards him in the distance at
a high rate of speed. The light turned green for him to turn left and he
quickly did so to get out of the way of the oncoming police officer. The police
officer pulled him over, yelled at him, and gave him a ticket for "failure to
yield."
My
observations:
(1) The cop told
my son he was traveling at 80 m/h. So this must have been a very serious
emergency for him to be driving so fast down the road towards the high school at
the time that all these students are getting out of class. Yet he has time to
stop and give my son a ticket.
(2) I
just found out from a coworker that the cops in Humble get paid overtime for
making court appearances. So they write a lot of bogus tickets, knowing that
people are more likely to fight them, knowing that they will earn overtime
pay.
