Sailor pen, Noodler's Ink, and Oberon Journal

New stuff for Gordy! :-)

While shopping for Mikie's birthday presents today, I accidentally stopped by this store:

Dromgoole's Office Supply
2515 Rice Boulevard
Houston, TX 77005
713-526-4651

I had heard about this place from Glenn's Pen Page. As soon as we arrived at the store (my son, Gordon Jr. was with me) I felt at home. I was surrounded by beautiful fountain pens! Debbie Nelson helped me at the store. I looked around a bit and asked if they had any Sailor Pens. I have read about them and wanted to try one out. Well they had two in stock, one with a medium nib and one with a music nib. Long story short...I bought the one with the music nib. And here it is:

It is a very comfortable pen to write with. A music nib is similar to an italic nib. It is wide enough to give you some interesting variation to your line width when you write and the pen felt good in my hand.

Dromgoole's has an excellent selection of ink as well. I ended up buying several bottles of Noodler's ink:

Later on, at Texas Art Supply, while waiting for them to bring me a boxed up easel that I bought for Mikie, I saw a rack of various books and other items that were marked down by 40%. On the back side, on the very bottom shelf, was a couple of journals form Oberon Design. It just so happens that one of them had a design that I had very much admired from their web site. So...I got it!

Beautiful tooling, no?
